Please don’t forget our PTSA meeting tonight–we will have a business meeting followed by the strings concert. Please come out and support our students and faculty!
Please remember the PTSA meeting for TMS-Middle next week on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 6:00 in the school cafeteria. In anticipation of the bowl schedule, the spring semester start date, and not having a February PTSA meeting, we originally decided to push the meeting back to January 24. The strings students have been practicing hard for our concert and we have some important business also.
Due to the student Valentine Dance and other February activities, we will not have a February PTSA meeting, however the Board will have a February meeting should you have any issues/concerns for us to cover.
The Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools 2012 Geography Bee will be held January 11 and 12. The preliminary competition will be held in each student’s advisory class on Wednesday January 11. One winner from each class will move to the Final Competition to be held in the TMS-M conference room Thursday, January 12 at 9:45 AM. Good luck to all participants!
Please share this with anyone who may be interested.

Congratulations to Yolanda Lawson! She is our nominee for Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame! We are so proud of Ms. Lawson, and we know that she will represent us well!
On Thursday afternoon, November 10, TMS-Middle Students will “Celebrate Giving” at 2:00. If you had planned to participate in INVEST and have not yet done so, IT IS NOT TOO LATE! Please send a promise of your pledge to dwilson@alumni.ua.edu
One of our PTSA Board members will then contact you about actually receiving your pledge–otherwise, you may bring it to the office for TMS-Middle. We are still in need of funds for teacher-student supplies!!
All students will attend to celebrate generous giving of the students and PTSA members to the following activities:
SCA for United Way, Career Clusters Elective thru Fall Festival for Career Conferences, Students and PTSA for Coupon Books for Class Supplies, PTSA Members thru INVEST for Class Supplies, Students and PTSA for Fall Dance for Class Supplies, and Students for St. Jude’s Hospital.
It is part of our mission to serve the community in a way that respects others, and we have certainly served our school and community in a generous way.
From TMS – Middle:
Congratulations to Laura Prior, PE teacher, who has been nominated Teacher of the Year by Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools – Middle! Coach Prior’s nomination is for the Alabama State Teacher of the Year Award; she will first enter district competition along with other city school teachers.
